Psychological Solutions™ is a leading provider of comprehensive psychological services, offering a range of evidence-based therapies and assessments for individuals, families, and organisations. Led by Dr. Fiona Martin, an experienced Educational and Developmental Psychologist, the practice takes a family systems approach, focusing on early intervention and multi-disciplinary care to achieve the best outcomes for clients with complex needs. At Psychological Solutions™ our psychologists are members of professional associations, including the Australian Psychological Society, and endorsed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. In addition to therapeutic services, we offer single expert reports, supervision for psychologists, research, and customised training programs to support organisations in addressing mental health and wellbeing.
Our Team
Dr Fiona Martin
Educational and Developmental Psychologist
Dr Fiona Martin is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She is the Director and Principal Psychologist of Psychological Solutions (Australia), Board Approved Supervisor and a Single Expert report writer for matters heard in the Federal Circuit and Family Law Courts of Australia.
In her clinical work Dr Martin applies a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches and diagnostic assessment protocols. She conducts assessments and provides therapy for a range of mental health difficulties and disorders, with expertise in neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr Martin is trained in the Family Doors Framework and works with clients who have complex family dynamics and conducts risk assessments. Dr Martin is skilled in a range of evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Dr Martin offers individual therapy, Couple and Family Therapy. She offers supervision to psychologists and training to health, legal and education professionals.
Dr Martin has shown clinical leadership across a variety of settings including private practice. She has led and supported teams of psychologists in private practice, designed and delivered research, intervention programs, outreach services and digital health projects. She has developed public policy, and provided systemic advocacy. As Chair of the first Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Committee during my time in Federal Parliament, she led an inquiry into Australia’s mental health system and produced key recommendations for reform while also contributing to the Health Committee, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Family Law Committees and an inquiry into Family and Domestic Violence. She advocated for protective behaviours and consent education in Australian schools and in 2023 she was appointed to The Federal Department of Education’s National Respectful Relationships and Consent Education Expert Working Group.
Dr Martin has conducted research on interviewing children about past events (eyewitness testimony), various studies on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities, and interventions for children with a parent undergoing treatment for cancer.
Dr Martin has three degrees in Psychology and Behavioural Science from The University of Sydney, she is registered the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with practice endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology. She holds membership of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a Fellow of the APS College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists (FCEDP). She holds membership of the Pacifica Congress, Family Report Writers Network, Australian Educational and Developmental Psychology Association and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is an Advisor for the Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation and Ambassador for Australians for Mental Health.
Dr Zoë Wheeler
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Zoë Wheeler is a Psychologist with over 12 years of clinical and research experience, she is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and has a Masters and PhD in Psychology from The University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. Dr. Wheeler tailors her approach to each individual client and draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness. Dr Wheeler has worked in both high schools and primary schools as a School Counsellor, in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, and has lectured in Early Childhood at Macquarie University. Dr. Wheeler conducts comprehensive diagnostic assessments for ADHD, specific learning disorder (e.g. for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia), cognitive assessments for giftedness and early childhood development and school readiness assessments. She treats individuals with anxiety and a range of mood and behavioural difficulties. Dr Wheeler works with people across the lifespan but she has considerable experience working with young people and parents, including neurodiverse individuals. She takes an evidence based approach to assessment and treatment, and she is grounded and pragmatic in her style.
Heather Gow
Psychologist
Heather Gow is a registered psychologist who has been practising in Sydney since 2005. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and has extensive experience in military mental health and the support of first responders, with specific skills in trauma-focused interventions for recovery from acute trauma and post-traumatic stress, as well as helping clients to recover from the impact of unhelpful belief structures, whether they are formed in childhood or adulthood. Heather is a compassionate and positive psychologist who views therapy as a partnership built on trust and focused on strengths. Heather brings a creative and client focused approach to therapy and draws on skills from Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Zoe Renowden
Practice Manager
Zoe is currently enrolled in a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the Institute for Social Neuroscience (ISN). She graduated with Second-Class Honours in Psychology from the Australian Catholic University (ACU) and brings a good understanding of psychological theories, practice and research. Zoe supports our psychologists in an administrative capacity and assists with research initiatives. She is also responsible for supervising the administration and support team and reports to Dr Martin directly. She is motivated to create a welcoming and professional environment and ensuring everyone feels valued and supported. Zoe works efficiently and she is responsive to the unique needs of clients.
Elen Thomas
Administration and Research Support
Elen graduated with First Class Honours in Psychology from Macquarie University in 2023 and she is currently enrolled in the Master of Psychology (Clinical) program at the ACU. Elen has a passion for evidenced based practice and supporting clinical care. She approaches every task with professionalism, empathy, and precision. At Psychological Solutions Elen works behind the scenes to ensure our clinicians can focus on delivering the highest quality care.
Katherine St Julian
Administration Support
Katherine (Kate) joined Psychological Solutions in 2026 and supports our psychologists in an administrative capacity. Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Australian National University (ANU) and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Psychology at Monash University. She has a strong interest in the field of psychology and is passionate about continuing to learn and develop her understanding of evidence-based practice and psychological research. At Psychological Solutions Kate is committed to creating a welcoming environment where clients and clinicians feel supported.
Sarah Oppenheim
Administration Support
Sarah joined Psychological Solutions in 2026 and supports our psychologists in a part time administrative capacity. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Psychology at The University of Sydney and hopes to undertake further study in psychology. At Psychological Solutions Sarah brings enthusiasm to the practice aiding quality client care. Sarah works hard to provide professional administrative services while ensuring our clients and clinicians feel respected and supported.
